Everything you Need to Know about Eucalyptus Sheets
It’s the thread that counts.
Deciding what bedding to buy is personal. Bedsheets are an intimate item that we use each night for hours on end. On average, we spend roughly a third of our lives asleep. The Sleep Matters Club reports that we spend an additional seven years of our lives just trying to fall asleep. That’s a long time to be laying on sheets you don’t love.
Bed sheets come in all types of fabrics, sizes and thread counts. Broadly speaking, there are 9 main types to choose from. In this post, I’ll talk about the Eucalyptus, sometimes known as the Lyocell bed sheet.
What are Eucalyptus Bed Sheets?
Eucalyptus sheets, also known as Lyocell sheets, are made out of the pulp from the eucalyptus plant fibers. Lyocell is the common term for the fibers on the eucalyptus plant, and it’s these lyocell fibers that get spun into fabric.
What are the Benefits of Eucalyptus Sheets?
Probably the number one factor people consider when purchasing bed sheets is how soft they feel on your skin. Eucalyptus sheets do not disappoint when it comes to the category of softness. They’ve got a luxurious smooth-to-the-touch surface, and are often compared with the feeling of silk.
Eco-friendly and sustainable
The ecosystem and environment need our attention now more than ever. If companies are adopting sustainable practices and producing eco-friendly, sustainable products, then consumers (i.e., regular people, like you and me) have a responsibility to support eco-friendly corporate behavior.
Eucalyptus sheets are eco-friendly and use significantly less water than traditional cotton. When sourced responsibly, eucalyptus sheets are sustainable and are composed of reusable materials.
If you happen to be a bed-sweater (there’s no shame in that), then eucalyptus sheets could be exactly what you need. Eucalyptus sheets regulate temperature better than organic cotton, so if your sleep is disturbed because you sweat at night or wake up from being too hot, you should give eucalyptus sheets a try.
Good for sensitive skin
If you’ve got sensitive skin then you should check to make sure your bed sheets are both hypoallergenic and antibacterial. Luckily, eucalyptus sheets are both those things, so you don’t have to worry if you’re skin is prone to sensitivity.
They have a natural cooling effect
The most impressive quality of eucalyptus bed sheets has to do with the naturally cooling effect they have on your skin. Besides being soft, eco-friendly and breathable, eucalyptus sheets are the perfect pair for those humid outback Aussie nights. So whether you live in the city in Sydney, or out in the bush, you’ll appreciate their cooling sensation for the summer.
Plus, if you have any mates over, they’ll be impressed by how much you know about your luxurious eucalyptus bed sheets. Anything that works as a good conversation piece is a positive point in my books.
